It’s the moments that catch you off guard, on a still Sunday evening, when you glance over and the love you feel swells up inside of your chest like the tears in your eyes. Soak it in. Bask in it. Let it take your breath away. Allow it to remind you to slow down. To be present. To show up. Be still and listen to your heart as it reminds you of your why.


There are things in this life that are worth fighting for. That it is a privilege to work yourself to the bone and endure the depths of hell for. There is love that knows no limits. That justifies every single battle – “All is fair in love and war” – is more than just a quote when you have had to carry a shield and sword as if they were appendages for so long.


It was eleven p.m., and she was seven months old when the phone rang, soon after the police came.


I do not blame Demeter for stopping the earth from growing. Maybe that is why I love the winter so much; it is a reminder of what a mother’s love can do.


Tonight, as I stared at a part of my heart that lives outside of my body sleeping peacefully, with long braided hair. The love whispered to me, and I realized that my armor was no longer in place. So, I laid down my shield and sword.


Love always wins the war.
