It will not be from me....

My oldest daughter came into this world following a sequence of unfavorable circumstances
The odds already stacked against her with a mother who was afraid she wouldn’t be able to love her
I never understood why they said a mother’s love was the most powerful force on earth, until they placed her in my arms
She ignited a fire in my heart with a potency that could far exceed any natural law or mortal limit
Consuming me with a gentleness that could subdue a hurricane into morning dew just to keep her dry
Her sister invoked the same all-consuming wave of devotion and determination the very instant she began to form
My love for them makes standing in the core of a supernova look like a faint flicker in the distance
As they slept peacefully in my arms, swaying back and forth, I softly sang “I will keep you safe, I will keep you warm.”
There is quite literally nothing with the capacity to even make me question that declaration
I have slayed monsters single handedly and spat them into oblivion without hesitation
So, if you think my voice won’t be heard from sea to shining sea to ensure that it is her body her choice
Or that the fire in my eyes could not level an entire militia with ease to allow her the right to choose who she decides to love one day
Then for you I pray that you find mercy where you can because it will not be from me.
