Extra Coffee Please

It’s a two cups of coffee kind of morning.

Last night I evaded sleep because I could not bear the possibility of seeing you in dream.

So instead, I stayed up to breathe.

Inhaling every molecule of me back from you.

Opened my heart – dived into it.

Scavenging any particle of you left lingering where it’s no longer welcomed.

Gathered them all with disappointed hands and softly returned them to the galaxies.

Walked up to the whiteboard of infinity, erased every trace of us.

Scrubbed my memory to remove any stain left behind from my mind.

Dismantled the trust, threw it away.

Removed the word safe from being associated with you in totality, for me.

Plucked, pulled, and pleaded us apart.

Completely sterilized me of you.

Demanded total revocation of my energy – infinitely and entirely…

But don’t take my word for it, consult with the stars.

They aren’t the fondest of strangers and never once knew your name.

Who was this about anyways?

My brain seems to have forgotten to remember.

It must be one of those two cups of coffee kind of days.
