Pens

We all have a favorite pen. Sure, sometimes we must use other writing utensils. Usually, they will get the job done but it is never quite the same. The ink is not as smooth. The lines aren’t the way we like them. It sits different in our hand. The flow just isn’t right. These tiny little things when all put together somehow set off an uncomfortable ping somewhere in the back of our mind. Most of the time it goes unacknowledged. Of course, we can push through, ignoring the subtle somewhat insignificant aforementioned details. Possibly even producing something we grow to enjoy or hitting the deadline way in advance. Another pen might do but we know it cannot compete where it does not compare. This isn’t about pens. I miss you.
